La Taberna Barbarroja opened its doors in 1988, thanks to José María Jurado and his wife, Lola Rodríguez, who managed the kitchen, preparing sandwiches and hamburgers. Back then, it had only ten tables and a pool table, functioning more as a cocktail bar. Over more than three decades, the hard work of the couple, along with the dedicated team they have built, has transformed La Taberna Barbarroja into a place known for its extensive menu of delicious dishes, a wide variety of liquors and beers, and premium brands of gin, rum, and whisky.
At Taberna Barbarroja, we pay homage to fine cuisine and local traditions, offering a unique culinary experience in an atmosphere inspired by the world of classic cinema. Our commitment is to provide a place where every detail reflects the warmth and hospitality of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The satisfaction of our customers fuels our passion to open every night and deliver the best service possible.
The originality of the venue gives first-time visitors an unmatched feeling of having made a remarkable discovery. Its walls are adorned with countless portraits of actors, mostly classic figures from cinematic history. The images are displayed with a dynamic rhythm, reminiscent of a 1950s movie script that surprises and leaves no detail overlooked. Anyone with a love for cinema will appreciate the authenticity of the decor, which makes it a unique and endearing landmark.
From traditional Andalusian tapas to innovative recipes that highlight the best of our local cuisine, the menu features cinematic starters to suit all tastes, such as tuna belly with avocado or stuffed mushrooms.
Taberna Barbarroja follows an American food trend, offering dishes like beef steak, burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and skewers. Notable items include their Retinto beef burger and special chicken sandwich.
Each dish is made with fresh, local ingredients. You'll find options like aneto, flamenquín, cachopo, pork tenderloin with various sauces, and Iberian pork cuts. There is also a wide variety of toasted breads and small sandwiches (montaditos).
